Fruit basket are a common type of tableware in Europe. They are used for a variety of purposes, not just to serve fruit that is always on the table, but also to hold bread and sweets. The design of this fruit basket takes advantage of the ease of processing, lightness, and durability of bamboo. It is made by gluing together thin bamboo slabs and applying a beautiful two-tone paint that leaves the bamboo grain visible. As the inside of the bowl is used to store food, the natural color of the bamboo is left intact, giving it a clean look. The appearance of the glued together thin bamboo pieces is based on the motif of fruit skin. These colorful and beautiful bamboo products have never been seen before.
フルーツバスケットはヨーロッパでは一般的なテーブルウェアの一つです。テーブルの上に常備するフルーツを盛るだけでなく、パンやお菓子を置くためなど様々な用途に使われます。このフルーツバスケットは竹素材の加工のしやすさ、軽さ、丈夫さを活かしたデザインで、薄い板状の竹を貼り合わせて作り、竹の木目を残した美しい2色の塗装を施されています。バスケットの内側は食品を入れるので、竹のナチュラルな素材色を残し清潔感があり、薄い竹プレートを重ねて貼り合わせた見た目はフルーツの皮をモチーフにしています。

This work is created in collaboration with Bamboola, a Taiwanese bamboo product manufacturer, as part of a project by the The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute.
About an hour's drive south of Taichung City in central Taiwan is Zhushan, an area where the bamboo industry has long been thriving. As its name suggests, this region is one of Taiwan's largest bamboo producing areas, and the town is home to many sawmills, craft workshops, and bamboo product companies. Bamboo products have been a material that has been deeply involved in Taiwanese life since ancient times, and its flexibility and functionality have made it indispensable in everyday life. However, with the rise of cheaper petroleum products, their use in modern life has been declining.However, the craftsmanship in this region, which has been producing bamboo crafts that are deeply rooted in people's lives for many years, is extremely high. The National Taiwan Craft Research and Development Institute, which aims to promote and support this technology and industry, has planned a collaborative project with young designers to create bamboo crafts adapted to modern lifestyles. This work takes advantage of the characteristics of bamboo - it grows quickly, is sustainable, lightweight, and is durable - and be designed to be adapted to modern lifestyles and to be sold overseas, including in Europe.
This was the first time the works are unveiled at Maison & Objet, the largest exhibition venue during Paris Design Week.
この作品は台湾国立工芸センターによるプロジェクトの一環として、台湾の竹工芸製品メーカー大禾竹藝工坊 Bamboolaとのコラボレーション作品として制作されました。
台湾中部の台中市から南へ車で1時間ほどの場所に竹山(ズーシャン)という古くから竹産業が盛んな地域があります。名前の由来通り、この地域は台湾最大級の竹材産地であり、街の中には多くの製材工場や工芸工房、竹製品企業があります。竹製品は古くから台湾の暮らしに深く関わってきた素材で、そのしなやかさや機能性は日常生活に欠かせないものでしたが、より安価な石油製品の台頭により現代の生活の中で使用される場面は減少してきています。しかし長い年月人々の暮らしに深く根ざした竹工芸製品を製造してきたこの地域の工芸技術は非常に高く、この技術と産業を振興、支援することを目的としている台湾国立工芸センターは現代の生活シーンに適応した竹工芸製品を生み出すため若いデザイナーとのコラボレーションプロジェクトを企画しました。
この作品は、成長が早く持続可能で軽量かつ丈夫な竹材の特徴を活かしつつ、現代の生活シーンへの適応とヨーロッパを含めた海外での販売を想定してデザインされ、Paris Design Week期間中最大規模の展示会場Maison & Objetで初の発表となりました。
