Vestige / Cabriole
Vestige / Cabriole is a non-utilitarian presence, quietly situated within space. A fragment of marble discarded from architectural use carries the trace of a material formed over geological time. Its cold, weighty surface invites touch, recalling the tactile memory of aged architectural elements walls and handrails brought into the intimacy of everyday life.
Mechanically cut edges and roughly carved ones, the cabriole as a formal aesthetic and traces shaped by nature between these elements, intention and abandonment coexist.
The contrast that emerges across time, memory, and history encourages a decision to continue using what would otherwise be discarded.
Vestige / Cabriole remains as a vestige a remnant imbued with meaning.
用途のない存在が、空間の中に静かに佇む。
建築資材として廃棄される大理石の一片は、長い地質的時間をかけて生み出された素材の痕跡である。
冷たく重量感のある石の表面は、壁や手すりといった古い建築に触れる身体的記憶を、日常空間へと引き込む。
機械的に切り出されたエッジと、粗く削られたエッジ、伝統的形式美であるカブリオールと自然が生み出した痕跡、それらの間には意図と放棄が混在する。
時間・記憶・歴史の間に生まれるコントラストは、本来用途なく放棄されるはずの大理石の断片を、日常の中で使い続けるという判断へと導く。
Vestige / Cabriole は、意味を帯びた残存物である。
